Book our free workshop on freelance features writing

17 September 2025 | Inclusive Journalism Cymru

Curious about freelance feature writing but not sure where to start? This practical and welcoming workshop will guide you through the essentials of storytelling, pitching, and getting published

Led by features writer Chloe Lovell, you’ll learn how to craft compelling ideas, write stand-out pitches, and navigate the freelance writing world with more confidence. With guest speaker Alice Snape – an editor, author, and writer – you’ll also gain an invaluable perspective from both sides of the editorial process.

Expect real-world advice, low-pressure writing prompts, and a space to explore your voice. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to refresh your skills, this workshop is open to all with a curiosity for feature writing.

About our special guests

Chloe Lovell is a freelance features writer specialising in personal and social commentary, with a particular focus on stories exploring race, identity, and mental health. Her work has appeared in publications such as Black Ballad, Grazia, Women’s Health, and Cosmopolitan UK. She also writes The Stories of Us, a Substack newsletter delving into themes of narcissism, resilience, and hope.

Alice Snape is a freelance writer and editor whose work has been published in magazines and newspapers, including Vice, Guardian, Metro, Red, the Independent, Women’s Health, and more. She spent a year as features editor at Cosmopolitan magazine where she investigated everything from sexual assault in the tattoo world to revolutionary initiatives to make party drugs safer. She previously edited independent magazine Oh Comely and also launched a tattoo magazine, Things & Ink. She mostly writes about tattoos, sex, relationships, issues affecting women and, now she’s a dog mum, pets (mostly for Kinship). As an editor, she helps people tell their own stories. As a writer, she often spills her innermost thoughts in personal essays.
